Have you ever had the impression of walking into a painting while observing a landscape? That’s what happened to us at U Bein Bridge, a stone’s throw from Mandalay. We set off before sunrise, sitting on the back of the famous Mister Htoo’s moped, and the atmosphere was breathtaking, facing what is known as the longest teak bridge in the world: fishermen balancing on frail boats, young monks on their way to town, lights worthy of the greatest impressionists. All the ingredients are there to create an unforgettable moment!
We find the broken green used in the colours of Bagan, this time in association with a wine-red, a reminder of the monks' fabrics. A timeless palette, both modern and ancient... some would say “vintage”
